Deer Lick Cave Loop Trail -Cleveland Hike

Clevelanders - have you taken advantage of our local Metroparks lately? One of our favorite places to hike is the Brecksville Metroparks. Take the moderate 4.2-mile path that leads you to Deer Lick Cave. Leaves are bound to start changing now, so check it out the next time you have a couple hours to spare!

The trail keeps your hike interesting with changes in elevation. We've seen some natural wildlife on the trail, including a beautiful owl! Follow the red markers to stay on the path.

The cave is called "Deer Lick" cave because local white-tailed deer need salt in their diet but can't get it from plants - so they lick salt off the sandstone in the park! Though it's called a cave, the rock is actually eroded stone, creating a cave-like appearance.

Driving directions: Type "Deer Lick Cave Loop Trail" in your GPS, located in Brecksville, OH 44141 (or click the link above).
